I Love Juicy //A Lush Shampoo Review

Hey everyone!

I bought something. Maybe it’s a gimmick, maybe it will work, maybe I’m crazy who knows! I bought a shampoo specialized for oily hair at Lush last Monday! I gave it a week and thought I would share it with you guys!

Like always I have an in-depth review on YouTube if you want to see my face talk for like way too long. I would love to see all of you lovely friends over there. So please check it out.

Now on to the review. I kinda decided like 30 seconded before using the product that I would actually review it, #Content. I had high hopes for this product because well, any other shampoo I have ever used had been shit. I don’t mean it in a bad way. I just have oily hair and 99% of shampoo is catered towards people with dry hair. So all those hydrating shampoos are not for me. My hair gets oily that same day when I use those shampoos.

So if it says it’s for people with oily hair, I thought to myself, well how badly can they screw this up? Spoiler: there is no screw-up, it works amazingly!

My first impression was it’s expensive! I don’t know who has 37$ Canadian to spend on shampoo but this girl can’t! I prefer you know the 3$ range. If I can get it cheaper than that then I am a very happy girl. I just find it super hard to justify spending that much money on a small bottle of shampoo. It would only make sense if it would last me over a year and I doubt that will happen. I give it an optimistic few months.

Now, the first thing that struck me while actually using the product was that you don’t need a lot. One squirt and you’ve got enough to cover your head. This is taken into account that I have thin hair. It foams up like a normal shampoo and smells very strong. I bought I Love Juicy which is more of a tropical scent. If that’s not your thing then you will hate this.

Other than that, after a few days of using the shampoo, I noticed a huge change in my hair. Instead of being oily the next day my hair is healthy and shiny. That was very interesting to see. I am very impressed with what this shampoo has been able to do in the short time that I have been using it.

So all in all, I think I kind of love this shampoo haha! The only problem is that it is so expensive. It makes it hard for me to justify buying this product again for the price. But if you are interested in this products you can get it HERE.

Salmon Bow Ties / Recipe – Day #27

Hey everyone!

So I’ve been really into cooking as of late. I love cooking and coming up with recipes. I am even thinking of making a cookbook at some point. Today, I decided to share my fav easy pasta meal.

My Salmon Bow Tie recipe is super easy. I don’t make a lot of things from scratch. (Sorry) One day I’ll attempt making alfredo sauce homemade but today is not that day. All you need for this recipe is bow tie pasta, alfredo sauce, pink salmon and asparagus.

I always start off with boiling water for the pasta and cooking my salmon. I take frozen salmon and put it on a pan with oil. I leave the salmon be for 5 minutes on high. Then I flip it and turn down the stove top to medium for another 5 minutes. Once the water is boiling I pour in the pasta.

There are two ways to cook asparagus you can boil them or you can cook them in the oven. I prefer the oven route. I cook them at 400 for about 12 to 15 minutes. I stick them on a pan with tin foil and season them. I give them a bit of olive oil, salt and pepper. Since they are going to go into the pasta there is no need to super season them. It’s really to taste.

I heat up the Alfredo sauce in its own pot while I drain the pasta and take the asparagus out of the oven. The sauce heats up pretty quickly. I then mix everything together in the pasta pot.

It’s a pretty straightforward recipe and super easy for a weeknight. I like things that cook quickly and taste great. If you’re looking for just a simple recipe this is for you. I would love to know if you guys try this recipe.

My Food Shopping Haul – Day #19

Hey everyone!

I love food! I love food so much. I think it is my favourite thing ever. So when I moved out and I started having to buy my own food, I got really excited. I am in love with the fact that I am in charge of my own grocery list and what I was eating.

We spend about 40 to 80 dollars each every week or two weeks depending on when we go shopping. Depending on where we shop we can save a bit more money too. If we go to the grocery store up the street we spend more money. If we go to the Walmart a bit further we save a lot more money because you can price match at Walmart. I’ve spoken about this before on my top tips for saving post, price matching saved my life. You can save so much money and shop at one place.

We buy a lot of fruits and vegetables, some meat for him and other little bits and bobs. My boyfriend loves juice and soda so we buy that for him. We have a lot of fruits and veggies for snacks and meals. The meat is mostly for him but I do on occasion eat fish and chicken.

So we just did our shopping and here is what we bought!

Fruits:

Mangos, nectarines, and avacados.

Veggies:

Cucumbers, zucchini, onions, garlic, chives, carrots and Brussel sprouts.

Meal:

Ground beef, tuna,  chicken breasts, and basa fillets.

Grains:

Buns, tortillas, and sandwich bread.

Milk products:

Silk almond milk, vegan butter, yogurt, feta cheese, marble cheese, and cheddar singles.

That is the big bulk of what we bought. We also grabbed a few things like sloppy joe packets and salad dressing. I eat vegetarian and my man is still transitioning to vegetarian. The plan is to go vegan one day. He is having a harder time letting go and thinks it’s just easier to eat meat sometimes.

If you guys have any tips for transitioning to veganism I would love to hear them. I’m sorry my fridge is a bit of a mess, I still need to organize it. What do you guys eat? Do you guys do your own shopping?

National French Fry Month – Day #16

Hey everyone!

July is National French Fry Month. So, I love anything that can be turned into a French Fry. So, of course, that is why I have my own favourite recipe. Besides the fact that I love to cook, I feel like it’s important to figure out how to make your own version of the unhealthy food. How do you make junk food healthy?

I always start with a potato. When making this blog post I had both russet potatoes (which I use the most often) and sweet potatoes. I make sure they are rinsed and take off any of the gross stuff I don’t want to be eating.

I think this part is optional and up to you on how you cute the potatoes. I like to make chips but if you’re really talented and have the time you can make them fry shape. I just find chips go way easier. You just cut the potato vertically.

Once all the potatoes are cut I put them on an aluminum foil covered pan. I use aluminum foil because it’s easier to clean up. I am straight up the laziest person and if it means there’s less for me to clean, I do it.

I drizzle a bit of olive oil over the potatoes chips so that the seasoning will stick. Today I decided to add onion powder and red pepper flakes. Red pepper flakes are spicy so if you’re not in the mood for spice you can always just use your own seasonings.

I stick these bad boys in the oven at 400 degrees for about 20 minutes. I check up on them at 20 to see how they’re looking and I either take them out or put them in longer depending on how they look. I look for them to be crispy.

I let them sit for about 5 minutes then I serve. I typically eat them with vegan sour cream and chives just for extra flavour.

Picnic – Day #7

Hey everybody!
It’s a beautiful Friday evening here and my boyfriend and I decided to have a romantic dinner. Since the budget is tight like I talked about yesterday, we decided to sorta stay in. I’ve been wanting to go on a picnic since summer started. To me, there is something just relaxing and romantic about a picnic.

Nothing is better than a free outing. The park close to my place is also very beautiful. There’s a lot of trees and shady areas perfect for a picnic. The park was also super quiet, there was only one other family playing on the swing set. It was a great place to talk.

I made some spaghetti with his mother’s secret sauce. She was sweet enough to make us like 5 meals worth when we first moved in. It was delicious.  Also made some kale chips that were a fail. I added too much seasoning and it was like eating pure salt. Who knew that you could have too much seasoning? For dessert, I made a pineapple upside down cake. I’m a chef!

My Garden – Day #5

Hey everyone!

Today I decided to work on my garden. When we moved into this place I fell in love with the existing garden. It was messy and clearly wasn’t cared for in awhile but I saw something in it. I’ve always wanted to grow my own food and plants. I think there is something so important about being self-sufficient.

So, I grabbed a shovel and some gardening gloves and I got to it. It was actually so exciting. It was almost like Christmas. As I ripped out weeds I saw there was so much more then I thought there was. There were things that the previous owner already planted like potatoes, chives and peanuts. I’m sure there’s even more that I haven’t even gotten to yet.

The garden just needed some much TLC. I realized today that there is a lot more work that will need to be done. This is the first garden I have taken care of. I thought it would be a lot quicker then it has been. Regardless I am having so much fun and I can’t wait to see what will comes out of it.

We are also currently facing a heatwave and it’s insane. I’ve been meaning to go out and do my garden all week but it’s just been too hot. My hair is curly and my skin is sweaty but It’s nice to spend some time outside. I’ll try to keep you guys updated on how my garden is going.

What I Loved In May // 2018

Hey everyone!
Long time no post, I know. I have finally moved into my new place and unpacked most of my boxes. I hate living in boxes and it was my top priority for the last couple of weeks besides work. I am back with my monthly favourites. I know this isn’t the most interesting of content I could make but I haven’t done my May favourites yet and I decided I wanted to do one for every month this year. So with no further ado my May favourites.

How To Get Away With Murder/ Netflix

Okay, so last month I finally decided to get Netflix. I had Netflix before but it was my ex Step-Dad’s and he stopped paying for it after awhile. I decided it was time that I got my own. I started How To Get Away With Murder finally and it is so good. I watched the first two whole seasons in like a week. I am high key addicted and I can’t wait for the next season to go up on Netflix. I am someone that if you haven’t noticed with my other monthly favourites gets very obsessed with one show at a time. Next month I may be binge-watching Blacklist (hint hint).

Furniture Shopping

So as you must know by now I have moved into my own place. That meant that I had to do a lot of shopping for last minute things. Though I haven’t bought any furniture yet (both our families gave us more than enough stuff) we are still looking to buy stuff we want. I have been in love with looking at how furniture stores have their stuff set out. It’s giving me so many ideas for my own place. Hopefully, I will be able to film a studio apartment tour soon. It’s one of the many things I want to film. Make sure to key an eye out on my YouTube channel for all the new videos I’m planning on filming.

Loaded Salad

I posted a bit ago a what I eat in a day post that had one of my favourite salads in it. I have been eating it non stop all of May. It’s just so fresh and yummy. If you haven’t seen that post I highly recommend getting the recipe. Do any of you guys have a go-to salad? I love getting new recipes. I am a bit of a food addict if I do say so myself.

Invisible Secret Deodorant in Cocoa Butter

I find this one a bit funny but I thought I would mention it. I mean I see other people post about their favourite deodorant in their monthly favourites so why not me? I have been loving a deodorant by Secret in the scent, Cocoa Butter. I think it’s my new holy grail. I started using it way before May but it wasn’t till when I had to buy new deodorant that I saw myself reaching for it again. I just love the way it smells and I feel like I never smell. I barely feel it when it’s on because it’s neither wet nor sticky yet it isn’t dry either. The only con is that the company is owned by P&G which tests on animals. I am on the hunt for a new deodorant that works just as well but is cruelty-free.

Last but not least, my favourite perfume of the month. I feel like it’s such a spring scent. I find it fresh and flowery. The Bay describes the scent as “The fragrance energizes with the freshness of green pear brightened with a splash of fruity punch and juicy mandarin. At the heart of the fragrance is orange blossom, a note of sparkling femininity that mingles with nectars of honeysuckle and peach, honey, vanilla, and smooth woods dry down to a warm, golden base.” I absolutely love this perfume and I think this is going to be one of my summer scents.
