My Student Planner // 2018-2019

Hey everyone!

I have some super exciting news for everyone! The day has finally come! My student planner is live on Etsy! You can get it for 5$ which is super cheap compared to the other student planners out there.

I really wanted to have a student planner this year but I just couldn’t find one in my price range or that I liked. So, I created my own student planner for all of you. My student planner is super easy to use and you can print it as many times as you want.

www.colletingglitter.com.png

I have everything including teacher and classmate contact pages, a homework schedule, a monthly and daily goal page and so much more. I desired a planner that was both easy to use and had everything I needed to get my ass into gear and get organized. I am someone that thrives the best when I am organized. I had a feeling some of you guys are as well. So that is why I created this planner.

Most of my competitors are selling their plan for 10 to 20$ so just for you guys mine is at 5$. You should get it while this offer lasts. Why pay the hefty price tag when you can grab this one for just 5$!

MAKE SURE TO CHECK IT OUT HERE!!

My art classes really came in handy while creating this baby. Everything is made by me personally. I will also be taking requests for custom colours too. I’m really excited to hear what you guys think. Will you guys be picking one up?

How To Nail Syllabus Week // Back To School 2018

Hey Everyone!

I start school in one weeks time and I am already mentally preparing myself for school. Don’t get me wrong I am very excited to go back to school but there is so much to do. Some people think that syllabus week is super easy and others think it’s very stressful. I fall under the in-between category. I know I have a lot to do but at least I’m not doing homework or projects yet. I thought I would share my best tips to do syllabus week the right way.

1. Read your syllabus before class

If your teacher posts their syllabus before the start of class I suggest reading it before class. Most of my teachers in the past have expected that the class read the syllabus and I’ve looked very stupid in the past for not reading it. If you take the 5 minutes to read your syllabus the class will make a lot more sense when the teacher is explaining things.

2. Buy your books beforehand

This may not be easy for everyone but I suggest buying your books for school before your classes start. I always try and go before my first class. Some teachers like to jump right into class, those are the teachers I like to call crazy. Still, it’s better to be prepared rather than not have your materials. I also find this eliviates the stress of waiting in long lines when the school book store openes. Beating the lines is the best way to go about it.

3. Create a schedule

I would honestly practice before school starts but create a sleep and wake up schedule. It will be a lot easier in the morning if you are waking up and going to bed at the same time everyday. I decided that I will be waking up at 7 am from now on. It’s one of the best ways to feel rested. You’ll be less tired if you are giving your body some consistancy. I find that syllubus week is the best way to decided what works best for you. It’s almost like a trial run of your school week. You’ll be able to see when it’s the best time to wake up everyday.

4. Know your schedule

This may seem like a given but I see people every year that are completly lost. At least have an idea of what your classes are. If you can look up the buildings your classes are in so you know where you have to be and when. I am lucky this year I am mostly in the same two buildings which will make it easier to get to my next class.

5. Ask questions

I am the worst at doing this myself but on syllubus week it’s the best time to ask questions. Don’t understand something on the syllubus? Aren’t sure if you’ll need the exact copy of your textbook or novel? Ask. It’s really that simple. It’s way better than getting a couple weeks into class and have no idea what’s going.

So here are my top 5 tip for syllabus week. Is anyone else excited to go back to school?

Why I Don’t Use a Backpack! // Back To School 2018

Hey everyone!

It’s back to school season! Who else is super excited to go back to school, cause I know I am? I thought I would make a back to school series for the next few weeks leading up to school starting. I will be going back to college this year for my second semester and I am really in love with what I’m studying. I really wanted to share my tips and tricks and maybe even some inspo for you guys for back to school.

So I know the title may be surprising to everyone. No backpack? Then what do you use? Now, let’s start at the beginning before we get ahead of ourselves. I have always used a backpack since my first day of pre-school all the way up to last year. I have had them all, the ones with my favourite animated characters, the suitcase backpack, the fashionable backpack, you name it I had it. Last year I ended up using a very ugly but sturdy backpack. I was just lugging around so much stuff that I needed something that could hold all my stuff.

IMG_5994

This year I decided I was tired of it. I was tired of carrying around all this shit that I didn’t need. I was tired of my bag being so heavy for no reason. So I decided this year that I was done with it. I was not living that hell again. I bought myself a large purse and said everything is going to fit in here whether I like it or not.

You can actually grab my exact bag here. I love Aldo! Their bags are always amazing! Honestly, if you’re looking for a good quality bag they are the place to go.

Now it was time to get rid of all those extra things. I started off first with my notebook. I had the amazing idea of using a 5 subject notebook last year for all my classes. I think it was just super easy to know that I had all my notes for all my classes at all times. The only problem is that the notebook was heavy. So I was super excited when I saw that they sold 5 subject notebooks but smaller.

IMG_6001

Then it was to take out the 2 or 3 pencil cases I had. I only very used like three things, a pencil, an eraser and a pen. I didn’t need all the colourful pens and the sharpies and all the extra little things I had in my pencil cases. I downsized to one pencil case that really has the bare minimum. The only thing I added to the three things listed above was white out and highlighters and one sharpie. Now it’s light and I only have to worry about one pencil case.

Next, I decided to get rid of the three agendas. Yes, I had three agendas. One for school and one for personal/ school stuff. I decided to condense everything into one agenda. It’s actually a teacher’s planner. I bought it for like 1$ at Target when I went to visit my friend Lauren. I realized a teacher planner was perfect to see when my homework and exams were. I also noticed I never really used my personal agenda. I just didn’t think to use it. Everything is already on my phone so I didn’t need it. That again frees up a lot of space.

IMG_6000

School books. They are a pain in my ass. Now that I’m in college I have a lot more textbooks. Last year I left all my textbooks at home and brought them to school when I needed them. I had a locker, everyone! Yet I chose to have all my books at home. This year I am determined to do a 360 and bring home the books I need rather than have to lug them to school every day.

I was bringing a water bottle and a travel cup to school every day. I would have my tea in one and my water in the other. Liquids get heavy! Plus I would just have an empty travel cup to carry when I was done my tea. I don’t believe I need to drink a tea to be awake in the morning. I prefer just drinking water. I feel like a nice cup of cold water in the morning wakes me up better than any caffeine does. So I am dropping the caffeine in the morning from now on.

IMG_5999

Two books usually ended up in my bag. In case I got bored with the one book I was ready I would bring another one. So yeah, I will be sticking to one book at a time. I don’t think I need to make it clear that books get heavy. I will be working on not bring a ridiculous amount of books too school.

I have never once used a personal hygiene bag every in my life. I have never used a toothbrush or deodorant or floss or band-aids or any of those little things. They were just taking us space in my bag. The only things I do use is Tylenol/Advil and a tampon. So I will leave a small container of pain relievers in my bag and tampons when I need them. I will probably have a separate bag for the days I have gym class with deodorant and perfume because I have a class after. That I will leave at home and just throw it in my bag on the days that I will need it. Other than that it’s really a waste of space to have all those things on a daily bases. If it works for you that’s awesome but for me, it’s just clutter.

IMG_5996

So these are all the reasons why I will not be using a backpack every again. I want to have a more minimalist school year. I wrote this post not to make anyone think that my way is the only way but more to not make the same mistakes as me. You can put all the things I’m bringing to school into a backpack. I just simply chose a bag because to me it’s more fashionable.

I want to know, do you guys bring backpacks to school? Are any of you stuck in the same runt as me bringing too much stuff to school? Leave me to comment I would love to know.

It’s Finals Time – Top 3 Tips to Ace Those Exams

Hey everyone!

Finals start this week and I wanted to share some of my favourite tips for staying motivated and relaxed during this week. I think we all need to be told that we will survive and everything will be okay and you will survive this week.

1.Get Some Sleep

I think this is my favourite tip by far. Sleeping helps so much to keep you ready for the week. If you sleep better you’ll be more alert and ready to study or take that exam. I think this is self-explanatory on why you should be sleeping but I know how this week can get. Don’t bother with late nights trying to cram in everything last minute. Night time is for sleeping. Try and shoot for 7 to 9 hours of sleep.

2. Schedule Your Studying/Projects

Honestly, this was the best thing I ever did. Instead of staying up all night writing that 1000 word essay or studying till I can’t stay up any longer, I look at my schedule and dedicate time to doing everything. On Monday’s I have a 4-hour break so instead of going home or watching YouTube videos I do a big chunk of work. I wrote most of my 2 essays and got some studying done. (I also edited a video and wrote this blog post) This helps so when I get home I don’t have to do it all at home when I know I won’t want to.

3. Have a Visual Schedule

I made a video about this and it’s up on my YouTube channel. Briefly, I like to see when everything is due and when I have exams. This helps me sort out what is the most important thing to do and when to do them. You can see more about it here:

I hope this helps some of you guys. When are your exams? I would love to hear some of you guy’s tips!

Why as a Canadian I Care About American Gun Laws // National Walkout Day

It’s national walkout day. Students across the United States are walking out of their class for 17 minutes to protest gun violence. The 17 minutes are for the 17 victims of the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School shooting last February.

I am Canadian, I currently live in Canada, Montreal to be exact. I have gotten a lot of critique lately for my strong opinions on what is happening in the US. I post in solidarity with a lot of the movements that are currently happening. I have been told that it doesn’t matter and I don’t live there so it doesn’t affect me. I’ve also been told that I was ridiculous and that my voice doesn’t matter.

I wanted to come on here and tell you guys that this is a very wrong mindset. As Canadians, we should care what is happening in the United States. They are our neighbours and we shouldn’t be leaving anyone behind especially young children that are being killed just for going to school.

A huge reason that I also care so much is because I lived there for 12 years. Philadelphia is home to me. I watch as friends of mine that live over there fear going to school. I never want to be in a position where I feel like I am not safe in a place I go to every day. I am a human I have a lot of empathy. I am scared to be shot in school. No one should ever have to live that, that is why I stand with the students today.

I will stand proud, I will fight. I will post my awareness on my social media. I am a student. I am Canadian. I am will be on the right side of history. Enough is enough.

What I Loved in February // 2018

Happy Monday everybody!!

I know surprise! I don’t usually upload on Mondays, but I thought I would make a blog post to go with my YouTube video. For all those who don’t know I post videos on Youtube every Monday at 9 PM eastern time. Today I am sharing all my monthly favourites. So let’s get into it.

Beats

I love my beats. I got them at the same time I got my MacBook. They’ve been featured a few times in a couple of other posts like “What’s in my Carry On??”. I decided to add them into this month’s favourites because I have been using them every day. They are the best for students. The sound cancellation is pretty good. I’m sure they aren’t the best headphones for it ever, but I do really like them. I feel like I can really focus at school because when they’re in I can’t see or hear anything other than my work. I have the Rose Gold ones but if you want to buy some similar you can get these Gold ones here: http://shopstyle.it/l/zJ61

YouTube

As much as I’ve always been a fan of YouTube I feel like this month I have taken a special care for it. I have been watching YouTube as a YouTuber and not as a fan or consumer. I was watching videos and taking mental notes on ideas for my own videos. I’ve been watching small channels lately too. I feel like there is a different atmosphere when you watch people that are still growing their channel. These people are in the same boat as me trying to build their career and hustling as hard as they can. Honestly, I really do suggest taking time to watch smaller accounts. You’ll be very surprised with what you’ll find. I actually talked to my boyfriend about this. We both agree that we find more genuine and interesting in smaller accounts. I think it’s because these are the people that are dedicated to their craft and are not just in it for the money.

Notebook

I love notebooks. I am a stantionary-aholic. I have a genuine problem. So, this should come to no surprise that I like taking notes by hand. I decided to create a notebook to start taking my blog from personal to business. I’ve been reading ever pin I can find and taking as many notes as possible. I am the worst note taker. I have notes all over the page. Checkmarks, boxes, crossed out things, I have it all. I am the only person who can read my notes. I highly suggest getting a notebook if you are really looking to be more serious about your blog or YouTube channel. I think paper is the safe option rather than leaving everything on a computer. Your computer can crash or lose files out of nowhere. Just do it! Trust me. If you liked my notebook in the video you can get a similar one here from Kate Spade: http://shopstyle.it/l/zJ7f

Perfume

This was in last month’s favourites. I’m sure you guys are sick and tired of hearing me talk about this perfume. Almost all my perfumes are from Bath and Body Works. I love their brand, it’s cruelty-free and always good quality. Everything always smells so good too. I have never been disappointed with any of their products. They have a few other scents in this range if this isn’t your favourite. I have the Rose scent. Be warned, this is a real perfume, it’s not like their other body mists. If you don’t know most of Bath and Body Work mists don’t stick to you very long. This one sticks to you for what feels like forever.

Jalapeno Cheetos

I think this is one of the most embarrassing favourites but if I didn’t share I wouldn’t be true to my monthly favourites. I love these Cheetos so much. I am sort of obsessed with them. I will eat a whole bag in two days. If you like spicy snacks this is for sure the one for you. I find food harder to explain because I never know what to say about it. It’s very unhealthy and I probably shouldn’t be suggesting this to anyone but they are so yummy.

If you want a more in-depth talk about these products I did upload a YouTube talking about my favourites

The Best Studying Space!

Good evening everyone!

It’s almost mid-session for me which means I have so much school work I think I’m going to go crazy. I have been doing hours of homework while trying to maintain my blog and youtube channel. It’s been a lot of work.

I know that a lot of you guys are in the same boat as me. Exam season is coming and you need a place to study. I thought I would give you guys my top advice on study spaces.

I usually use my deks to study or I sit on my bed. I used to sit on my bed to do everything. It’s just so comfortable. Over time though, I learned that I would slip into bad habits and watch a youtube video instead of studying. I still sometimes sit on my bed to do work but it’s mostly if I have to read something now.

I like to use my desk. I’ve had this desk from Ikea for some time now. I just never used it. It would be my collection station. I would just dump stuff on it and never actually use it. Now as shocking as this may seem, desks are great for studying!
